I love growing stuff and mucking around in the dirt I also teach photography and photo theory. Growing up on a farm gave me a strong connection to the land, the animals and the seasons. A connection that seemed normal as a child seems quite distant for many other people. There’s a resurgence of interest in knowing where food comes from and how we live with the environment, the stuff I make fits in there somewhere. Music from apple trees, photographs of plant colonisation and networks of hedges. One day I would like to make a musical instrument that uses compost to make sounds.
appletreeorchestra.org is a deposit of notes and sketches, a place to share the small things I do when I’m not teaching.
First blog I’ve ever come across that talks about making music from compost…I have just followed, and will be watching with interest!
